On June 23, Microsoft pushed KB5095093 as an optional update to both Win11 24H2 and 25H2. Don't underestimate 'optional' — this is the real feature update, not last month's Patch Tuesday.

Key features:

1. Point-in-Time Restore: Windows now automatically creates system snapshots every 24 hours, preserving app, driver, and settings change history. Not just for update failures — if a driver breaks your game or a registry change crashes the system, you can roll back. Restore takes about 40 minutes. Enterprise can set intervals (4/6/12/16/24 hours), default retention 72 hours. Home and Pro are fixed at 24-hour snapshots.

2. Update Pause Calendar: The old logic was rigid — max 4 weeks, no way to say 'pause until July 15.' Now you can pick a specific date on a calendar view, up to 35 days. Can extend when it expires.

3. Screen Tint: 6 preset tints beyond the old Night Light's single yellow: Amber (long screen hours), Cool Blue (glare sensitivity), Rose (severe headache), plus custom tint with adjustable intensity. It's technically an accessibility feature, but a major upgrade over Night Light.

4. Bluetooth Overhaul: 6 Bluetooth issues fixed — remembers microphone mute state after disconnect, faster AirPods/Beats Studio Pro pairing, improved call quality, faster reconnection after headphone sleep, reduced latency on headphones with mics, OEM device stability improvements. This is arguably the most impactful change for most users.

5. File Explorer: 'Overall faster response,' plus fixes for address bar suggestion dropdown not disappearing and OneDrive integration lag.

Other notable improvements: Adjustable trackpad right-click area (small/medium/large), smoother multi-monitor scrolling, improved WSL networking, faster shutdown, AI process memory optimization for 32GB+ devices, Secure Boot push to more PCs, magnifier supports custom zoom percentage.

One caveat: Microsoft acknowledges some Office apps crash under KB5095093 (under investigation). If you're a heavy Office user, wait a week or two for feedback.

Personal view: This optional update is worth installing. Point-in-time restore and the Bluetooth overhaul are genuinely impactful. These features will eventually merge into July's mandatory update anyway — early adopters get them sooner.
